Como lastimosamente la producción muchas veces va por un lado y el director por otro, Querejeta paró el rodaje cuando todavía a Víctor Erice le faltaba contar el desenlace. Ya han pasado 23 años y la cosa quedó así. Melancólicos, podríamos decir con Cesare Pavese que ya nadie nos llevará al sur, pero nos queda el consuelo de que El Sur es una singular obra maestra inacabada.
